Movie Reviews

Compuserve - 9/10 by Harvey S. KartenNo gold star for originality, but nicely acted crime tale.
DVDTalk.com - 9/10 by Brian OrndorfKill You, while stewing in the juices of unapologetic formula, is a more of a direct injection of stark criminal behavior punctuated by exhilarating performances and a soulful dedication to the moody rhythms of despair.
Slashfilm - 8/10 by Peter ScirettaMark Ruffalo's performance walks a narrow line, making you root for the screw up loser who has already been given too many chances.
Village Voice - 8/10 by Nicolas RapoldRuffalo draws on his knack for summoning an incongruous brooding bulk from within, and the result almost sucks the air from Hawke's rangy routine of nerves and sinewy smiles.
USA Today - 8/10 by Claudia PuigLike "The Departed" and "Gone Baby Gone," What Doesn't Kill You is an engrossing, gritty, sharply written and well-acted drama set on the mean streets of South Boston.
Cinema Signals - 8/10 by Jules BrennerThe film is caught in the tension between wanting to provide depth of social implication and gunplay action but the symbiosis doesn't multiply the effect.
NYC Movie Guru - 8/10 by Avi OfferA mostly gripping, well-acted and surprisingly engrossing crime drama. Mark Ruffalo delivers an Oscar worthy performance that's both sensitive and surprisingly moving.
Film Threat - 7/10 by Scott MendelsonIt is worth seeking out for a brutally honest, achingly realistic, and emotionally compelling look at the other side of petty crime – the slow, painful path to legitimacy.
UGO - 7/10 by Jenna BuschThe film is well done, gritty and raw, clearly showing the desperation in a city where opportunities are limited and crime is just another job. Ethan Hawke is a pretty risky choice as he just screams supermodel, not gangster, but after a bit of drooling,
Los Angeles Times - 7/10 by Sam AdamsRuffalo's feral vulnerability gives the familiar form a jolt.
