Wattching the show, but unacquainted, are Mike Evans (Bill Craig), on the prowl to boost his sagging music firm, and Maggie Hendricks (Stephanie Hill), a reporter for People Magazine assigned to do a story on modern country music. They both sense in Pat the answer to their problems. They both head for the Hubbard ranch and are met by Pat's sister Beth (Kristin Harmonas Kristin Nelson), who tells them that Pat is only interested in becoming a cattle-barn auctioneer. This evolves into two romances, six songs sung by would-be-auctioneer Pat, some misunderstandings, and a whole lot of traveling music. Producer Wendell Niles Jr. would later produce better shows.
