User ReviewRupam BAn exceptionally entertaining movie. Stellar performances. Brilliant direction, as you would expect from Shyam Benegal. One of the best movies I?ve ever watched.
User ReviewSantosh NBrilliant direction, very natural acting and a feel good story.
User ReviewAysha RI am surprised that this movie is not in the Oscars. It wonderfully navigates through the corruption endemic that is prevalent in India and how few people use the same endemic to change the system. Would give this movie a rating of 100 + if I could. Extremely entertaining with excellent acting by Boman Irani and Manisha Lamba and unique storyline. Hats off to the script writers, actors and director.
User ReviewAnkur SOne of the simplest and greatest movies I have ever seen, showing the hidden elephant of corruption in a metaphorical way. I'm pretty sure I have seen this as a play as a kid.
User ReviewRavi Ilearn fron this movie how can stolen a well came back.....4/5
User ReviewShiv NGHANTA!!! Loved it... a must see movie. Top notch performance by everyone.. Shyam Benegal has done it again.. Its a shame that fuck all movies like Golmal n Wanted end up making crores n crores of rupees n well made movies like these dont... If its not playing in a theater near you, go buy a DVD. Two thumbs up!!!
User ReviewRachit MVery nice movie!! - good direction (obviously - shyam benegal) and excellent acting by Boman Irani. Though a satire about corruption, this movie keeps you amused through out. No heavy dialogues or cliches. Story does seem bit fantasy and depicts only part of reality (In reality scams such as these result in bloodshed) but still enjoyable. I would definitely recommend watching, not to be missed.
User ReviewAjayesh SA gem of a movie. Boman plays a driver from a village near Hyderabad. He decides to build a borewell to increase his daughter's marital prospects as well as his soceital stature. But his plans go awry when he encounters the corrupt buruecrats who demand their pound of flesh and then some. The tale is a hilarious spoof of the political and buruecratic setup which exists. The tale is told in the form of a rustic narrative thread with Minissha Lamba ably supporting Boman. There is also a twist in the tale with a double role, which was totally unnecessary. But the accents, the simple story and the tale of greed turning on its head leaves you smiling at the end.
User ReviewAmar Ssublime narration...didn't even feel that 2.5 hours had passed by. This is a story about the 'real' india...one away from Salman Khan & Akshay's firang jaunts. Benegal shows all thats wrong (without trying to generate an angry young man), he also shows whats right in our country. This movie will make you smile, laugh and will also leave a tear in your eye at times. This is surely worth watching.
User ReviewRishi RI loved the movie... perhaps one of those clean movie backed by very good story... the first half was a bit slow paced and touch boring,.. but the second half made up for the loss.. In the end you have to say ... a movie very well done :)
