Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)Ken HankeReginald LeBorg keeps the movie pretty effective on the atmosphere front, though the opening scenes may be the most effective of all.
User ReviewRichard CNIce breakaway from the standard horror damsel for Evelyn Ankers.
User ReviewMichael HBatshit crazy movie about a man who marries a woman raised by jungle natives (!!), The woman still believes a lot of the jungle magic, but the guy thinks it's all jungle oogah-boogah. Some other people though, take advantage of this info and try to use it against them, like framing them for murder. A movie that just gets crazier and crazier as it goes along, this is a fun movie!
User ReviewRussell GAnother Inner Sanctum and another good movie! I like the mix of weird (in this case voodoo witchcraft) and psychological / psychiatric mumbo jumbo that mixes. I was expecting an occult detective series based on the titles, but these have been pretty great.
User ReviewJeannie BInteresting. An earlier (and not quite as successful) version of Burn Witch Burn. Features the spooky "Cat Woman" (the one in the resteraunt who recognizes Simon Simone as a "sister") in a major roll.
User ReviewAj VThe second film in the Inner Sanctum series is a little more straight forward and features less mystery but it never drags. The mixture of voodoo magic and psychological thrills makes for good fun and the final image of Evelyn Ankers is a shocker.
User ReviewOrlok WEngaging little thriller--A Woman Scorned!!
User ReviewScott WEnjoyable, atmospheric voodoo thriller with Lon Chaney Jr, Anne Gwynne and Evelyn Ankers.
User ReviewMichael TEnjoyable entry in the "Inner Sanctum" film series.
User ReviewKevin N"You are amazing".Well, a line from the movie which describes Lon Chaney's character and amazing he is not.Chaney's wooden acting as a Sociology Professor with a Hawaiian princess bride is about as laughably stupid as we can get, particularly as the plot can barely handle the intrigue that surrounds his relationship with his wife and also that of his peers and students so that Chaney seems to emerge as a shining light of hyper- intelligence amidst all this general bitchiness. Pinocchio is more convincing in his acting and we almost expect him to turn into a wolf at any moment to relieve us of this tedium.Amazingly the plot of this B movie was resurrected in 1962 in Burn Witch Burn.
