Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzA silly uninspired juvenile one-joke film.
BrianOrndorf.comBrian OrndorfCouldn't even drag a smile out of me. Chalk it up to either old age or the calcification of taste. Or just blame it on Silverman and McCarthy, who found their careers rightfully torn to shreds soon after the release of the film.
Reel Film ReviewsDavid Nusair...might just be the ultimate wacky '80s comedy...
7M PicturesKevin CarrHilarious goofball comedy from the late 80s.
Hollywood ReporterDuane ByrgeMainly Bernie's is good old, knock-down slapstick with just the right dose of cruelty thrown in.
DVD ClinicScott WeinbergThere are a few jokes that hit home quite successfully, but at 98 minutes, you'll probably be looking forward to this weekend's big finale.
Common Sense MediaBarbara ShulgasserIrreverent dead-body comedy has plenty of iffy stuff.
Rolling StonePeter TraversAll cast members seem willing to make total fools of themselves for our delectation. A fine but futile gesture. The bad news is that even with such yeoman efforts, it's still impossible to drag one tired joke around for nearly two hours. Like Bernie, the movie ends up dead on its feet.
Washington PostHal HinsonWeekend at Bernie's is an unfettered but uninspired one-joke movie.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertWeekend at Bernie’s makes two mistakes: It gives us a joke that isn’t very funny, and it expects the joke to carry an entire movie.
