User ReviewGreg WThis is a great film from 1945, John Mills is fantastic as is Stewart Granger as the bad guy trying to steal a soldiers wife whilst he is at war, he then returns to save his marriage,Joy Shelton stars as his wife, the fight scene , at the end whilst the area is being bombed is fantastic, a real classic
User ReviewMichael TA slight but effective short British feature which highlights the fears and temptations of adultery in the war years, as lonbely newlywed Tillie ends up being courted and nearly seduced by Stewart Granger's Purvis (a vain a-hole basically) after her bland but decent husband John Mills is sent to war. Mills deserts when he is tipped off about his wife's vulnerability and there's some atmospheric fisticuffs. The weakest part is that Joy Shelton's Tillie would find any kind of attraction in Purvis and isn't strong willed enough to say a simple no early in the proceedings - regardless of this it does effectively dramatise fears which must have been in the back of the minds of many young husbands off fighting for their country.
User ReviewAnne FWho'd have thought little John Mills could pack such a punch? The strength one can muster when a spouse is playing away...
User ReviewSanity Assassin !was it just me or was this whole film about a man looking for another man to punch and somehow they made that into an hour an a quarter of run time?!!? alastair sim as the doctor was the only thing that i liked. he seems to be quite a good actor. he was good in green for danger too
