CinemaniaDan JardineAn outstandingly excellent piece of short-story telling, benefitting from the compression effect that can only be achieved by a shorter rather than a longer narrative.
User ReviewCaleb LThe best short film I have ever seen. Superb acting, intimate cinematography, a script of improvisational realism and exceedingly professional direction add to the powerful and realistic nature of WASP, which often feels like a documentary. A perfect piece of filmmaking.
User ReviewPrivate UA great short film. Danny Dyer playing the only role he can manage, but doing it well.
User ReviewThomas DA terrifically powerful, heart wrenching ultimately fantastic short film. Great direction from Andrea Arnold coupled with some excellent performances all round, with special mention going to the more-than-competant child actors, make this a superbly grim realistic film that offers more than many feature length films 4 times as long.
User ReviewGreg PBest short film ever made. The acting was that real at first i thought it was a documentary.
User ReviewLeigh Cbrilliant brilliant brilliant short film. the children are amazing, as is the lead. simplistic, realistic, & poignant.
User ReviewBen ZWhat an extraordinary short film from Andrea Arnold {Red Road}. Equal measure heartrending equal measure moving.
User ReviewDan BAndrea Arnold's 26 minute 'Wasp' contains more power than many films 3 or 4 times that length. Excellent performances, particularly Nathalie Press and the astonishingly natural children, with Danny Dyer offering solid support. It's bleak but the potential voyeurism inherent in the grim subject matter is entirely mitigated by the humane approach to the characters. I caught it on Film Four and it's definitely worth looking out for. Andrea Arnold went on to make the slow burning revenge story 'Red Road'. Can't wait to see what she does next.
User ReviewTiffany PWhat a heartbreaking short film. The mother's parenting skills reminded me of Britney Spears.
User ReviewOllie WReally good short film. This was included on the UK release of Fish Tank, so I was curious to see something else by the same person who directed that. Also pretty gritty and follows a single mum living in a housing estate with her four young kids. Similar themes of desperation, and really well acted. I only wish it was longer so I could have seen what happened after the pair got home!
