Movie Reviews

Cinemanía (Spain) - 7/10 by Carlos Marañón The film's great merit is that it shares the difficulty of reaching its goal: nothing more difficult than to endure one's own silences, like those of a documentary with images of individual and collective meditation. [Full review in Spanish]
Village Voice - 7/10 by Ren Jender Walk With Me (save for a few patronizing shots of nuns and monks with toys or in an amusement park) becomes a moving examination of mortality and life choices.
Screen International - 6/10 by Fionnuala Halligan Walk With Me is a slip of a film, at turns worthy and profound, yet also soporific and uneventful, an occupational hazard of spending three years embedded in a Zen community, no doubt.
The Hollywood Reporter - 6/10 by Sheri Linden Heartfelt, if not entirely satisfying, Walk With Me provides an up-close glimpse of the life of devotion, focusing on the monks and nuns who live at a rural monastery led by Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh.
The New York Times - 5/10 by Jeannette Catsoulis Sometimes dreamy but mostly dissatisfying, “Walk With Me” offers no clarity for the curious. We can enjoy the meditative mood, but understanding its underpinnings would require more than this idyll of silence and stillness provides.
User Review - 10/10 by Marilyn S The movie is slow and gentle. I found myself more and more relaxed as I was was walking with Thich and also accompanying the monks and nuns in their work and life. This was a "movie meditation" - sweet and touching, peaceful and gentle. I saw him in the mid-1990's and he is a gentle soul. We need people like him and his community who seek a deeper connection to themselves, to others and our earth.
User Review - 10/10 by Movie G Really peaceful film. It's more about a day in the life of a monk/nun, not so much about the entire Buddhist philosophy. Reminds of how important it is to take a break from the rat-race of life, and be in the moment.
User Review - 6/10 by Sally%20 S I wanted to like tihis as I have Buddhist leanings.. But meh.. boring, wandering, random, no bones, no meat. Lovely narration by Benedct Cumberbatch and some pretty scenes, some pretty words, some nice faces.
User Review - 6/10 by C M A pleasant viewing but I think it was made more for people in Sanghas (meditation communities) than the general public. It is a show not tell movie. However, there was not enough "telling" for the average person with little knowledge of Buddhism. I would not recommend spending 10+ dollars to see in a theater for the average person.
User Review - 4/10 by Erik I have been meditating every day for many years. I found this movie poorly made, boring, and uninspiring. Unfortunate. I left before the end.
