User ReviewPhilip MThis is a short film made by just one person. Amazing, huh??
User ReviewJohn JThis movie is amazing, so simple yet so beautiful.
User ReviewHannes ÅThis is how art should be done. One man and one idea. A man who wanted to tell a story and did so how he wanted, in his time, in his way and had the drive to do so. All Maktotos' work really pays of in one of, if not the greatest short films i have ever known. With a great emphasis of artistic style, the visual presentation of the film adds so much to the amazing, emotional story. Hand drawn animation mixed with 3D animation and CG paintings combine to create a real sight to see, but its the story and its charaters that really push this film to brilliance. VOADS tells a classic love story with a futuristic twist. You will need a bit of a head on you to understand the troubles of space travel and its effects on our characters, but anyone with a basic understanding of time dilation should be ok here. Going through the years with our 2 lovers trying to keep in contact over ever increasing distances, talking past the stars themselves, you can't not feel every bit emotional. I'm not afraid to admit that the first time i watched this film, i cried. It really is that touching, and any film... simply a collection of moving images and sounds... can make its viewers FEEL to that degree... is nothing short of brilliant.
User ReviewPaul RFor it's length, it's a very good story, very moving.
User ReviewWayde NA beautiful tale of true love separated by time and space. Known to make me cry from start to finish like a little girl who lost her puppy.
User ReviewMarie HA really moving short story.... EXCELLENT!!!
User ReviewRajneel SStirring, moving, practically tear-jerking, 50 minute long short film that stuns you with its raw emotional power as well as its incredible visuals and superb action choreography. Hard to believe it was single-handedly created by one person on his home computer. One of the greatest short films ever made. The English version is just as good as the Japanese.
User ReviewHouston MI really enjoyed this movie, and would not have seen it on my own. I love its concept of FTL travel and the comm problems that would create. The dilemma at the end is "should you mount a rescue mission, for someone who could be long since dead, even if that person is someone you care about very deeply?"
User ReviewToria DAmazing development of character relationships. Seeing this as the opening to an evening of anime a few years back i was stunned, it was beautiful and so intelligent. Could watch this a million times over.
User ReviewActually BThis is the height of anime drama thus far. It is amazing for several reasons, not the least of which being that this anime uses text messaging as a vehicle in the plot: the saddest, most suspenseful text messages you will ever see on screen.
