Carl Michael Ziehrer is a young composer who tries to make his way in a Strauss devoted Vienna. When his first opportunity arrives he is encouraged by Mitzi and two of her sisters. He in turn presents them with a waltz, "Wiener Mädeln" (Viennese girls). Then he meets Klara, the eldest sister, and the waltz's lyrics are born. But Klara has other interests.
