Vegucated is a guerrilla-style documentary that follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to adopt a vegan diet for six weeks and learn what it's all about. They have no idea that so much more than steak is at stake and that the planet's fate may fall on their plates. Lured by tales of weight lost and health regained, they begin to uncover hidden sides of animal agriculture that make them wonder whether solutions offered in films like Food, Inc. go far enough. Before long, they find themselves risking everything to expose an industry they supported just weeks before. But can their convictions carry them through when times get tough? What about on family vacations fraught with skeptical step-dads, carnivorous cousins, and breakfast buffets? Part sociological experiment and part adventure comedy, Vegucated showcases the rapid and at times comedic evolution of three people who are trying their darnedest to change in a culture that seems dead set against it.

User ReviewJessica LI am a meat and cheese eater, but have considered going Vegetarian for a while and have tried a few times. This documentary has provoked my interest in becoming a full vegan. I recommend this to be watched by EVERYONE! It explains in simple terms what vegans are and why the chose their lifestyle. It also gives fact-based information regarding impact on health, animal cruelty and the environment.
User ReviewKat W"Nothing will benefit health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -Albert Einstein
User ReviewScott CI cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this film. Marisa has created an excellent film that shows anyone can go vegan, it's not hard, and within weeks you will be so angry regarding animal cruelty, you might even break the law doing so.
User ReviewIan MSo, as a massive meat eater than occasionally eats Quorn I watched this. Two thirds through I felt ill. Tho documentary doesn't show you fully what we are doing to animals, but it is enough. Also, our life expectancy is better if we eat mostly or all veg. I love meat, but I feel so sick about the thought of it now I'm hoping I don't turn back.
User ReviewLinda K SI am a 63 year old woman who recently decided to make huge changes in my eating and lifestyle habits. After seeing this doc along with numerous others, I am seeing that I'm not all that interested in my own well being as I am for the animals. I challenge each and every proud meat eater to watch this and continue eating meat without a conscience. Smoking is one big health related change us baby boomers have come to grips with, but smoking only hurts me. It doesn't hurt countless innocent animals being processed like garbage in landfills. The collective consciousness concerning animals in America has come a long way since I was a kid, but the selective care we give to the domesticated animals we have a pets is no less horrible than Nazi selection of the finest blonde haired, blue eyes people favored and treated "decently", treating those of Jewish decent as worthless vermin. If we are humane enough to see that animals feel pain and loss, why do we continue to treat animals for food as nothing more than a can we slap a label on, tossing out anything we can't sell and make money on. The part of this doc that stuck with me the most is the baby male chicks being ground up alive to be used in food for other animals. Wake up America!!! We are but one generation from eating people, something that is detestable and unspeakable to most of the fat proud meat eaters. The argument that we need meat for protein is a government lie. Our teeth are flat for God's sake. We are grain eaters. Otherwise we would have big fangs like wolves (which I feel is just over the horizon of evolution if this keeps up). So many things about this doc has effected me and I am so thankful that I am not thinking of ME ME ME anymore, but thinking of the sweet souls of chicks, pigs, cows and all living creatures, great and small.
User ReviewJanis SLoved this. Was one of the better plant-based diets movies. I especially enjoyed the actual research aspect of the film.
User ReviewNicole LThis documentary is absolutely eye opening. I never really never exactly what a vegan was and what it entailed, but this movie completely "Vegucated" me about some absolutely fascinating reasons and provides compelling evidence to consider about ALL food choices for the better! Everyone who loves animals (pets etc) should consider watching this movie ASAP! IT's not what you think in a good way.
