We Got This Covered - 4/10 by Matt DonatoIt's an unfortunate situation when the best looking effects are on a film's DVD cover.
User Review - 10/10 by Burritto VPretty funny surprisingly. Solid transformations. Could be 10 minutes shorter,
User Review - 8/10 by Desmond LTop werewolf movie! A little campy but great story
User Review - 4/10 by Maria IDespite the fact that this is a low-budget werewolf flick that, clearly, didn't really spend the resources it had on the werewolf costuming itself, this isn't that bad of a movie. I just think that it suffers from what almost every werewolf film in existence suffers from and that is that, really, thematically, they are all the same movie. I don't know why, but werewolf films haven't seen the kind of innovation that zombie or vampire films have seen in terms of telling their story. There's not just one way to tell a vampire or zombie story anymore. I don't think you can say the same about the werewolf mythos. The one film that does come to mind, which is really a parody of cop films, is Wolfcop. I think that's the only one that comes to mind, at least recently. And I'm not saying that there isn't innovation with this sub-genre, but if there has been, they're probably very rare films that didn't find any kind of buzz or positive word-of-mouth. So, yea, that's the problem I had with the movie is that it is, essentially, the details aren't exactly the same of course, every werewolf movie you've ever seen. Guy wakes up naked in the middle of an alleyway, naked, not knowing what he did the previous night. Guy finds out he's a werewolf, so he tries to find ways to protect others from himself. Etc, etc. There is nothing here that you haven't seen before and that is really a shame. It's not like there was anything about the movie that I'd say was really good, but there were some funny moments and the cast, all things considered, was at least solid enough to make the film watchable in certain parts. The film spends a lot of time teasing the appearance of the wolf and I actually think it works. It's not like teasing the shark in Jaws, where people were fucking terrified once they saw him (hell, they were terrified BEFORE they saw him), but I think it works. And considering the budgetary limitations, that was a really smart choice. I say it's a smart choice because when you do get to see the werewolf, it's kinda lame. It does not look like a monster at all, it just looks like a guy with grey make-up on and beard, think an amish beard, with the fake teeth. It just doesn't look very good. It's not like in other movies, where they either do animatronics or CGi. It clear is a dude wearing make-up. Maybe they can justify that by saying that they wanted to keep the resemblance of the characters in there, because if you see a CGi werewolf then there would be some sort of disconnect. And that's a valid reason for keeping it simple, but I also call it a shitty excuse. I also think that the film's narrative, if it can be called that, lacks some sort of focus. Like they start heavily implying, out of nowhere, that Jack and Turner are gonna come to a head at the film's climax. Jack borrows Turner's Go-Pro and, somehow, after that Turner is instantly pissed at Jack. For no reason whatsoever. It's poorly written if you ask me, but the stuff with Jack and Brandon is pretty decent and it has some funny moments. But the film doesn't really have as strong a narrative as it probably thinks it does. There is some decent gore at the end, it doesn't look fantastic, but at least it's something. So, while I didn't think this movie was bad, it's also one that's very flawed. It's better than I would've ever expected, but I can't exactly recommend it since it is not a good movie. You could do worse, but there's nothing to really see here.
