EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyThis romantic adventure with John Wayne (as engineer for a change), made a year before he became a major star, suffers from Wallace's routine helming and Borden Chase's uneven script.
User ReviewAshley HI can always appreciate a classic movie. I haven't seen this movie in yrs.
User ReviewPhenyezia OOutstanding movie John Wayne is my family favorite actor
User ReviewBrian FIt is all about the DUKE! The movie might sucked, it doesn't matter 2 me. The DUKE!
User ReviewZoran Ssomewhat average, okay performances and the romance is decent enough, but it really drags quite a bit
User ReviewDean MNice action-romantic with John Wayne who plays a different character than usual. For the first part of the film he plays his standard All-American man, but during the second half he turns to a heel. Laraine Day looks fabulous. The plot had a lot going for it, the photography was nice, the direction OK.
User ReviewChristopher SA nice romantic adventure that celebrates heroic bravery while pointing out the dangers inherent in an uncooperative spirit and rampant individualism. John Wayne may not have been a major star when this movie was made, but he gives his characteristic strong performance.
User ReviewPaul DOverly melodramatic and certainly formulaic, this Wayne movie does have all-round strong characters, and once the action takes hold it does grow in interest.
User ReviewJames H5.5/10. I am not a huge John Wayne fan, this film is a little different than his usual fare. Well produced, nice combination of romance, drama and adventure. Melodramatic and too long, but for the most part it was interesting. Some exciting scenes, too much romance.
