Movie Reviews

Total Film - 6/10 by Neil SmithStar and co-writer George Russo clearly has an ear for swaggering male patois.
Empire Magazine - 6/10 by Anna SmithPlenty of 'he's-not-is-he?' observational details, nice performances and some genuinely funny moments make up for the patchy plotting.
Little White Lies - 6/10 by Ahmed PeerbuxWhile Turnout is hardly a slice of London life like you've never seen before, Sales is certainly one to watch.
Shadows on the Wall - 5/10 by Rich ClineThere's a lot of talent both in front of and behind the camera on this gripping, low-budget London drama, so it's frustrating that the script doesn't give everyone more to work with.
Observer (UK) - 4/10 by Philip FrenchMuch of the dialogue is drowned by thumping music.
Movie Talk - 4/10 by Jason BestAs the film's slick look shows, first-time director Lee Sales has a good eye, and a good cinematographer (James Friend), but he's a lot shakier when it comes to creating a convincing story.
Guardian - 2/10 by Cath ClarkeWhat went wrong for Ophelia Lovibond? It was all looking gangbusters after a string of entry-level Hollywood roles. Now here she is, bolt-on girlfriend in a third-rate Brit lad-flick.
Sky Cinema - 2/10 by Elliott NobleNo spine, no sympathy. No sympathy, no interest. No interest, no point. You get me, bruv?
User Review - 4/10 by Tom BBruv, this is a poor turnout! Sponsored by Ralph Lauren, this is another Brit flop of a film. An awful chav cast deliver a chav story about a small time drug dealing young man, where every other word is bruv. George (an unlike-able main character) and his girlfriend (big fringe and teeth and not much else) are planning a holiday, but George has no job and is a cockney waster like his council estate mates. So he buys some cocaine to re-sell and earn the holiday money he requires to woo his 'posher' bird. Turnout, or better named Burnout, boasts woeful acting, silly, obvious scripting, a stretched classic idea and a young Paul Bettany look alike messing around North London. It is as soft as the main character, with style over substance, stereotypes and comical cartoon representatives throughout. The ending will be viewed one of 2 ways (as a good inevitable tidy ending or a hard to believe total cop-out) . Either way it's conclusion is that this is a modern, independent love story with little substance (other than the drugs). T.O is a small film happy just being different, watering down content with easy slang and yob behaviour making up for a lack of quality content. Not for everyone bruv, silly and niche, geezers only tonight.
User Review - 4/10 by Pauly HA dim and silly bit of Hoxton cobblers, entering a plea on behalf of those low-ranking drug dealers being forced out of the East London neighborhood by gentrification. Woe is them... We're peering through pins for signs of promise: no roles for either Danny Dyer or Roland Manookian, which is something of a surprise, but we do get a cameo from Ben Drew - a.k.a. TV's Plan B - in the sort of hardman role American rappers usually attempt in a bid to persuade us they're less stage school-educated than they really are. (He's more convincing in those Bulmers Cider ads, the portly sellout.) As one might expect from a project originated within the music industry, it's performed in a supposedly authenticising vernacular, more often than not drowned out by the soundtrack. Duh.
