A film unearthed from the buried landscape of the American Nightmare. TRASH HUMPERS follows a small group of elderly "Peeping Toms" through the shadows and margins of an unfamiliar world. Crudely documented by the participants themselves, we follow the debased and shocking actions of a group of true sociopaths the likes of which have never been seen before. Inhabiting a world of broken dreams and beyond the limits of morality, they crash against a torn and frayed America. Bordering on an ode to vandalism, it is a new type of horror - palpable and raw.

Movie Reviews

Ultra Culture - 9/10 by Charlie LyneAs funny as it is horrific, and as beautiful as it is repulsive, Harmony Korine has crafted one of the most fully-formed (and undeniably affecting) art movies of recent years.
Daily Telegraph (UK) - 8/10 by Sukhdev SandhuIt's a typical Korine move: gesture towards seriousness, and then undercut it in the name of puerility. Or is it post-political cynicism?
Critic Doctor - 8/10 by Peter Sobczynskia painful and deadly dull slog that tries to approximate the outrages of early underground cinema without bringing anything new to the table.
I.E. Weekly - 8/10 by Amy NicholsonThe spirit of celluloid is dragging 3D CGI to the toilet and giving it a swirly.
Salon.com - 8/10 by Sam AdamsFor the brave souls who make it to the end, there should at least be no question of the movie's sincerity.
Time Out - 8/10 by David FearIf this is what passes for contemporary art terrorism, we’ll opt instead for something truly subversive--like genuine art
SpoutBlog - 8/10 by Karina LongworthNever has the bizarre beauty of degraded low-grade video been exploited to this extent.
AV Club - 8/10 by Scott TobiasWith every project, he pops open the same trunkload of shtick and leaves everyone to argue over whether it’s art. It’s a win-win situation for Korine, who’s either a genius or a provocateur who’s succeeded in gaming his stuffy critics.
Film4 - 6/10 by Catherine BrayThere's no real narrative, just three folk in latex OAP masks snorting and cackling through a series of often noctural adventures with wheelchairs, hookers and undead-looking street poet types.
Guardian - 6/10 by Peter BradshawIt is an exercise in experimental provocation and in pure insolence, while sometimes being horribly funny and fascinating, reviving the spirit of Tod Browning's Freaks and the ice-cold vision of Diane Arbus.
