| User ReviewRandy GProbably the worst installment of the movie franchise based off of the character created by Junji Ito, this movie is for dedicated fans of the manga only. The storyline seems to be a lose mash-up of the plotlines of "Passing Demon" and "The Gathering". The main plot seems to revolve around a young man working in a mannequin factory who discovers that his co-workers are keeping a young woman a prisoner in the facility, and since the main character is the only one not obsessed with possessing her (apparently he is immune to Tomie's aura of infatuation, as he is still in love with his recently deceased girlfriend), he helps Tomie escape. Apparently there are other copies of Tomie out there, as some scientist driven mad by his obsession with her had taken samples of the blood of this Tomie, and injected her blood into developing fetuses to create copies of her for some unspecified reason. Now the health of Tomie's copies are deteriorating fast, and they want to hunt down the original because they believe that drawing fresh blood from her with give them new vitality. As you might have suspected from watching the other Tomie movies, the plot is slow moving with too much pointless filler material. The English language captions seem to be computer generated, and since it is a literal character for word translation, often hard to follow if you do not have some familiarity with Japanese grammar (for example, the name "Tomie" keeps getting translated as "Rich River" (the two characters in her name)). This is obviously a low budget film, and the only reason to watch it is to brag that you have completed the series. |
