Leave your thoughts about T.J. Miller: Meticulously Ridiculous.
Rolling StoneCharles BramescoThe comedian is like the last guy at the bar, a wasted loudmouth who you can't help but love because you're in his good graces. His principled rants just so happen to have better punchlines.
User ReviewAndrew Scott Ltj miller is awesome. absurdist to the extreme. It's not for everyone for sure- particularly if you dont find the absurd, the morbid, or... nihilism funny. I do. And he specializes in that kind of comedy. TJ Miller's comedy in general isn't for everyone; he's a comics comic in the best way possible; he's over the top as fuck. I like Tjs comedy because it's absurd but it's smart. It's like this weird hybrid of high brow, low brow... so basically no brow and slapstick style.
User ReviewRuss BIf you like Deadpools' sense of humor, you'll like this.
User ReviewZach SStarts out extremely strong, but looses steam in the middle, which it never manages to regain. It's said the actual recorded performances was over 2 hours (not including all of TJ's warm up performers going up before him). This can explain why halfway into the show the audience just doesn't react the same way anymore - even thou the jokes are just as good. This also takes away from the viewing experience. This material, with TJ's perfect delivery could have easily been a four out of five, even higher. Either shorten the set, or record more shows, good audience reactions are essential. When T.J. Miller is ON, there is NO OTHER comedian like him.
User ReviewMax GIt was really bad. I turned it off after ten minutes. One laugh maybe, but when a joke would miss it would miss hard. He's great in Silicon Valley (really great), but as a stand-up comedian, this was painful to watch. I will try to watch more of it later to see if it gets better. and, if it is, I'll revise my review.
User ReviewRobert HThe first ten minutes, I figured he might be able to, at least, top Dane Cook which is a pretty low ceiling. After five more minutes I turned it off, but checked in during commercial breaks in other shows plus I watched the last ten minutes. All in all, the worse HBO stand-up special ever and I can't remember anyone who might have been even close to this level of a waste of time. In an ad lib setting on various talk shows, he has been very funny and clever. It doesn't really appear that he knew he was on the hook to do a full hour so he made it up as he went. He'd better fine a niche fast as he act is wearing thin and he doesn't have the weekly show to fall back on. Stand-up is not his forte.
User ReviewSasha RI stopped watching it after 10min. Doesn't even make a joke, I don't understand how he gets laughs...
User ReviewGleep GI really wanted to like it but just could not. His jokes and absurdist style just don't seem to go anywhere and the whole thing ends up being a mess. Very disappointed but hopefully he gets better as time goes on.
User ReviewScott KIt was hard to watch. He needs to keep to shows where there are writers that k is what he can deliver. He has quick wit, but not as a standup comedian.
User ReviewKelly AStopped watching 20 minutes through and didn't laugh once.
