Leave your thoughts about Threads.
SciFiNowJonathan HatfullIt's perfectly crafted, totally human and so completely harrowing you'll think that you'll probably never want to watch it again.
The GuardianPeter BradshawIt wasn’t until I saw Threads that I found that something on screen could make me break out in a cold, shivering sweat and keep me in that condition for 20 minutes, followed by weeks of depression and anxiety.
EmpireSam ToyHorrifying, moving and powerful. Watch it by yourself, late at night and never sleep again. Not a good date movie.
The New York TimesJohn J. O'ConnorNuclear war is brutal, ugly, and piss-yourself terrifying, Threads argues. Why should its movie depiction be anything different?
Little White LiesAnton BitelThreads first aired on BBC2 on 23 September, 1984, and had much the same - albeit vicarious - impact of instant and lasting trauma on its millions of viewers (6.9 million, to be precise) as a megatonne bomb hitting a major city.
User ReviewBryan WI was only 7 when this came out, and remember being scared shitless by it at the time. Of course, on a par with productions today it loses a little, but it's still chilling.
User ReviewDaniel MRealistically depressing and unusually watchable 80's docu-drama. 100% disturbing or your money back!. Not exactly a big-budget epic, but horrifically true to earth. Very grim. Few, if any visual punches pulled. Should be mandatory enforced viewing for all school leavers. Watch this in daylight. You wont sleep afterwards if you watch it at night. Dont watchi this in company. Have to agree that it makes watching any of the Hollywood extinction epics films look like Camberwick green.
User ReviewDouglas PMakes "The Day After" look like a Disney film. Very deep and disturbing look at nuclear war and the way of life after the holocaust. A very grim film with a very grim ending. This movie should be required viewing for any President/Leader/Czar of a nuclear proliferated country.
User ReviewLeon PThis film envokes a vision of a grim, desolate wasteland filled with horror, decay and misery - and that's before the bombs even start falling. Easily the second most harrowing film on 'what might have been' had those pesky reds ever decided to go toe-to-toe with the US. Makes the US equivalent 'The Day After' look as realistic as those 1950s propoganda films like "The Atomic Bomb and You". Only beaten for sheer horror by The War Game.
User ReviewIan Bhorrendously realistic, and the gacts where all spot on. this film scared the shit out of me in 1984 and has the same effect even today. scary stuff, and possibly the most harrowing film ive ever seen (apart from schindlers list!!!) BBC at its VERY best
