In Cocoa Beach FL, a woman shows up drunk on the same lawn on the same date three years running. What's going on? She's Sherry McGrale, a singer building a reputation on college campuses, especially for her signature song about having been raped. A rock magazine in L.A. takes notice, and writer Owen Richardson recognizes her: his older brother orchestrated the assault and involved him. Owen heads for Florida, ostensibly to do a piece on her, but in reality to try to put his own demons to rest. Wounds from the event are ruining Sherry and Owen's current relationships. Is there any prospect of healing? A judge, Sherry's manager, and a widow with young kids provide supporting arms.

New York Magazine/VultureJohn LeonardNot the least astonishment in Things Behind the Sun is that much of it is remembered and imagined from the point of view of one of the rapists.
New York PostJonathan ForemanSo unsparingly honest in the way it treats human cruelty and resilience that it makes fashionably bleak films like "In the Company of Men" and even "Boys Don't Cry" seem unforgivably trite or exploitative.

EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyAfter several disappointing films, Allison Anders has made a nother personal film that thematically is linked with her first (and best) feature, Gas Food Lodging.
Film ThreatTim SangerWhile its heart is in the right place and the cast gives powerful performances, Things Behind the Sun doesn't shed any new viewpoint or perspective on the subject matter.
TV Guide MagazineMaitland McDonaghThis potent drama might be dismissed as therapy in the guise of filmmaking if it weren't so clear-eyed. At its core are three remarkable performances.
User ReviewBrian HToo powerful for words I need to see it again
User ReviewFrances HPowerful, gripping film that dramatizes the lifelong effect of the aftermath of rape on its victims, who like other tortured souls of trauma, are survivors. The Accused dealt with getting justice for a rape victim. This film deals with how to live the life that is destroyed by it, and with it's superb performances by Kim Dickens and Don Cheadle, this film should have been an Oscar nominated one too.
User ReviewJezzy AThis is the best movie I have ever seen in my entire life. Thanks to Rihard for showing it to me. I suggest whatch it if You like drama
