User ReviewPaul DBlimming good book, brilliant film, well directed right down to exact details of this impressive true story of the 1950's.
User ReviewGregory WProbably the war film I saw the most as a kid. At least 3 times.
User ReviewTony Cbloody good film, not enough of these type of films thay should make more rather than bliking horror films, this is one of the best very atmosferic.
User ReviewPeter NEntertaining, well-paced escape movie... alway kept me enthralled and not as "tally ho chaps" cliched as you would expect.
User ReviewRoss FA classic... better than the Great Escape movie.
User ReviewIan LStiff upper lips were standard issue and a jolly good thing too or our heroes might not have had the pluck to take on Gerry.
User ReviewGary CTally ho! Forget the Great Escape, this is the best prisoner of war film I've seen and it's a true story.
User ReviewGrant W'The Wooden Horse' has a very strong first half considering its lo budget production value thanks to its committed actors and its screenplay. However, the film suffers from a second half that not only fails to live up to the pace and excitement of the first half, but also ends on an abrupt note. We want to see if these characters totally escaped from danger! Don't leave us guessing what their fates will be, show us some more! As is, this is a passable P.O.W. film in a sea of P.O.W. films because its first half is just good enough to overcome its awful second half.
User ReviewLauren BVery old movie, but a great story based on the daring escape using a wooden horse to be able to dig as close to the fence as possible. Ingenuity at its best!
