Leave your thoughts about The Witch Who Came from the Sea.
Alexander On FilmChris AlexanderIt all climaxes in one of the most affecting, tragic and strangely beautiful final acts I've ever seen a horror movie. If you can even call THE WITCH FROM THE SEA simply a horror movie. It is one, but it's so much more...
StarburstIan WhiteIf you ever find yourself arguing that the idiots behind the 'video nasties' list didn't have a clue what they were doing, The Witch Who Came from the Sea should be your Exhibit A. This film doesn't deserve its schlocky reputation.
TheHorrorShowAnton BitelMolly... is a complex flesh-and-blood character whose derangement is presented with immense sensitivity and sympathy - and her descent into madness is figured less as visceral slice-and-dice than as heightened domestic tragedy.
User ReviewJared Bmillie perkisn gave the performance of a lifetime & the witch who fell from the sea remains one of the greatest psychological masterpieces of all time. don't say it, just see it!
User ReviewRobert DWho would guess an exploitation film about an incest victim turned serial castrator could be great? Millie Perkins is amazing- constantly shifting between creepy, pathetic, sexy and menacing.
User ReviewBill BThere are obscure movies that gain affection because they should be seen, and there are movies that deserve their obscurity...and there are movies that are surreal and fantastic messes, that seem intent on punishing their audience both with style and substance. It's only for the rare cinophile who can appreciate something so dated that it seems like a period piece, so bland it seems like a no-budget student film, and so over AND under acted AND directed that it seems like a satire.
User ReviewLarry WWhat, exactly, does an exploitation movie set out to do? Shock and amuse in a way nothing else we've seen does. Well, this movie succeeds. It is surprising, hilarious, bizarre, underrated and absolutely absurd. However, it is also extremely mis-represented by every piece of advertising I have ever seen for it. (The current DVD cover art has nothing to do with it, and the new trailers present it as some sort of sexy serial killer story.)

User ReviewDarren GI loved the dreamy nature of the story and despite being extremely cheap, they did a lot of great stuff with it, I think. The lead actress gave a fascinating, although strange, performance, and I think too many people jump on it as "bad" when honestly, the bitch is just CRAZY. Everyone else is a little nuts, too, I think, and it makes the film's overall sense of logic kinda work. It's not something conventional or "real." It's a surrealistic piece of work. But hell, what do I know? :P
