RogerEbert.comGlenn KennyI have to admit: the wrap up got me good, enough to make me admire Facinelli’s ambition and handling of mechanics.
The Hollywood ReporterJustin LoweWith The Vanished, filmmaker and actor Peter Facinelli channels that fundamental fear into a compact, consistently unpredictable thriller that provides few reassurances, but plenty of surprises.
Austin ChronicleRichard WhittakerIt's never a good sign if you're watching a thriller, and your first thought is, "Is this supposed to be funny?" So goes the comically overblown The Vanished.
User ReviewIamcritical86Wow, talk about writers and a director who are just having barrels of laughs messing with people's heads! I've always liked Ann Heche, but this movie just didn't do anything for her, and her chemistry with Jane seemed unnatural and forced. The premise was okay, but all the way through, this picture just seemed a little topsy-turvy - like it didn't know what direction it wanted to go. Not the worst movie I've seen but there was definitely something off about it.
User ReviewRuffingtonEveryone's a critic, sure, but I am shocked that this movie has any positive reviews. The acting choices are so bizarre, the dialog is so strange, it's difficult to tell which is worse. I agree with the 'pro' critic who said it was easy to imagine this movie as a comedy. Even though it deals with heavy subject matter, I laughed out loud on more than one occasion because it was just so ... off. I guess the fact that it got a few laughs out of me is something, but I'd still find it tough to recommend.
User Reviewsadamo1This movie was so poorly acted it was criminal. I swear Jane, Heche and the Writer-Director were in a contest to see who could do the worst job. Not sure what is up with Jane's sometimes accent earlier in the film. I have never seen a movie with Heche and I will be avoiding her "work" in the future. The movie was so ridiculous that my wife and I started to text each other back and forth of wtf gifs. Anyway, this movie should be renamed "All In One Take.
