Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzAn implausible B film fantasy sci-fi venture. But it should delight the fans of special effects maven Ray Harryhausen more than others.
StarburstChristian JonesThe Valley of the Gwangi is a curious beast of a film.
DVDJournal.comMark BourneIt says something about the production and about Harryhausen's artistry when we realize that Gwangi, the snarling dinosaur created from a tabletop model, is the most realistically alive character on the screen.
Antagony & EcstasyTim BraytonBest thought of as one of the pictures to get out of the way later rather than sooner when you decide to see everything Ray Harryhausen did.
User ReviewEllwood DRay Harryhausen, a genius. Remember the seventh voyage of sinbad, jason and the argonauts (those skeletons are class!!) and one million years BC to name a few. Ooooohhh, champion!!
User ReviewBrian TThis is my favorite movie of all time. I love the continuity of this film, when the cowboy fights the pterodactyl. That is my favorite scene ever. It made my dreams of movies being real (cheezy) come true.
User ReviewMathew WStill better than a lot of modern dinosur flicks, Gwangi roars in the art of excellent stop motion
User ReviewLuke STHE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE. It's a western...ABOUT DINOSAURS! Cowboys and Dinosaurs! WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?? And the dinosaurs are animated by Ray Harryhausen. I basically owe my imagination to this movie.
User ReviewKeith MI saw this movie on TV when I was young. It was one of those movies that really had an impact on me - I was so obsessed with Dinosaurs at that age. The story was great - at least at that age, I thought it was great. :-) A dinosaur thriller couched in a western. Wow. This is a Ray Harryhausen stop-motion animation classic made back in the 1960's - so there are no spectacular JP special effects. But Harryhausen's artistry is first-rate. And, though the writing and actinng sometimes leave a bit to be desired, the plot is great. All in all, a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
User ReviewSimon TLoved this movie as a kid, love it as an adult. How many dinosaur movies can make you cry?
