User Reviewdancin gI actually liked this show. Sure it wasn't quite the level of The Prince of Egypt, to which Kilmer also played Moses, but it was good enough for me to watch it all the way through and feel that I wasn't disappointed. Some of the songs are actually not too shabby and the costumes are well done. It's worth at least a look.
User ReviewAaron Wwow...at first it was kinda hokey, but they did a good job vaaaaaaal *drool*
User ReviewElise HI think it's safe to say that I'm going to be a little biased in this review considering that this film A. has one of my favorite actors: Val Kilmer, and B. is a staged musical (which i love). With that being said, I will try and review this as fairly as possible. Let's get right to the first point: Val Kilmer is pretty good as Moses, as he should be considering he voice the character in the 1998 film The Prince of Egypt. His character definitely shows it's age and it would have suited him better if he were 10 or 15 years younger at least. The other leads are respectable but nothing that stands out. The ensemble is top-notch and I really enjoyed them as a whole. The show itself was fairly entertaining and had it's moments but wasn't anything to write home about. It doesn't help that The Prince of Egypt is a fully scored and beautiful musical in itself and anything in comparison will fall short. There are a few catchy tunes here and there, and it isn't as bad as it could have been. I'm glad it wasn't a big run on Broadway and it was well-suited for an engagement at the Kodak in Hollywood.
User Reviewjoslyn cexcept for Val Kilmer's singing, I really enjoyed this play. Although I do give credit to Kilmer, he did good playing Moses. His singing just wasn't up to par with everyone else.
User ReviewAmanda HI rented this for the sole reason that Adam Lambert from American Idol played the role of Joshua in it. While Adam's few songs were extremely impressive, the rest of the production was mostly boring. The music is good, but the voices singing it, not so much. The effects were cheesy and almost painful to watch a few times. However, having said all that, it's worth seeing simply for Adam Lambert's performance of "Is Anybody Listening."
User ReviewKelly Jo SActually really well done! Strong voices and Val did a good job, although Aaron and Ramses II were the strongest
User ReviewCassie NIt's quite bad, but amusing at the same time, with mediocre singing and a voice of God that sounds like a robot. :-)
