TIME MagazineJames AgeeA remarkably good moving picture-an improvement on Franz Werfel's reverent novel about the French peasant girl who saw the Blessed Virgin and, with her help, discovered a miraculously healing spring at Lourdes.

Not Coming to a Theater Near YouMatt BaileyThe Song of Bernadette is not a great film, but it is a very good film. It is characteristic of the kind of earnest prestige or super-spectacle picture that was always a stumbling block for an art form built on commerce and exploitation, but it is
User ReviewN MThose of you who doubt the existence of a superior being in the world, namely, God the Creator, you must see this movie. It is based on a true story that took place in the 19th century in Lourdes, France. The dead body of Bernadette whose life is depicted in this movie "The Song of Bernadette" is incorrupt. After her death, the Catholic Church did an investigation on her life and cannonized her. After many years of her death, her body was found incorrupt. Placed in a glass coffin in a Catholic Church in France, pilgrims visit this Church to pay respect for this great saint of God, a vessel of His grace to our world! When looking at her face, she appears as, though, she is only sleeping. She still looks beautiful!

User ReviewSarah RWatched it several times a year in private school. It is one of my favorite Saint movies. I absolutely love St. Bernadette...so much that I chose her name for my Confirmation name!
User ReviewJoanna Lin 1858 on a cold february afternoon, a 16 year old peasant girl was visited by a vision of a beautiful lady. the rest of the world would claim the girl saw the virgin mary and would proceed to act as such. the girl, bernadette soubirous, would eventually be canonized because of her vision but she would be remembered because of her faith in her conviction. henry king, in the style of the hollywood studio product, creates a tribute to this young woman that is undoubtably strong and sensitive. and his talents made a star of jennifer jones, who plays bernadette. an easter is not the same without this film.
