Leave your thoughts about The Sicilian.
Time OutGeoff AndrewThe dialogue is ponderously poetic, stilted and over-emphatic, characters are convenient cyphers, and both cutting and photography tend towards the bombastic. Folly, then, but gloriously inept and overblown.
Washington PostHal HinsonThe Sicilian is unambiguously atrocious, but in that very special, howlingly grandiose manner that only a filmmaker with visions of epic greatness working on a large scale with a multinational cast can achieve.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertOne of this film's big problems is that you can hardly see it. The foregrounds are dark and indistinct. The backgrounds are overlit and washed-out.
Fantastica DailyChuck O'LearyCimino's least satisfying film, but still an interesting failure.
VarietyVariety StaffThe Sicilian represents a botched telling of the life of postwar outlaw leader Salvatore Giuliano.
User ReviewJezzy AThis movie is almost up there with "The Godfather". The story is fantastic: it's philosophical, Machiavellan, Robin Hood-ish, and it remains true to Mario Puzo's honest, bare-all story-telling. p.s. Christopher Lambert was spectacular.
User ReviewJoseph BSad story...but classic in showing how no one betrays the sicilian. Even after death.

User ReviewGreg BOne of the best films made about the mob, this film does a great job in invoking the classic story of Robin Hood. Great acting, and featuring John Turtorro in one of his earliest roles, as well as an excellent supporting bit by Terrence Stamp, this film should be on everyone's shelf.
