User Review - 8/10 by rick pJohn Wayne as a German navy captain. That's German, not Nazi, allowing him to be a sympathetic good guy. Actually a good film with one of the great pieces of philosphy: "A man's capacity is usually relative to his goal."
User Review - 8/10 by Alan WAn anti-Nazi but pro German merchant sea captain is pursued by the Royal Navy after being wrongly accused of murder - all the while facing dissention from his crew and the machinations of a female spy and a Nazi ships officer. A surprisingly strong story with some good acting, even if the American accents for the Germans are a little jarring at times.
User Review - 8/10 by Paul DThis movie is far more complex than I first gave it credit for. Karl Erlich is a loyal German citizen but not loyal to Hitler at all. He outwits his British counterpart and stays a step ahead of the "barking dogs" for almost the whole film. Tense and motivating this film is a classic adventure, Duke is good in it - the cast is excellent.
