Eye for FilmJennie KermodeIt takes skill to make a cheesy creature feature well. The Sand is much smarter that it looks on the surface. Give it time and it will pull you in.
The Hollywood NewsKat HughesThe Sand takes a silly idea and somehow makes it work, helped greatly by the fact that it has got buckets of charm.
User ReviewShane HAnother creature feature is an understatement. This was one of the better creature features where you don't go into it with a serious nature and clipboard ready to pick out it's flaws. It's rather a movie where you're supposed to enjoy the cheesiness of the deaths and the creature, not immediately start comparing it to every other movie that you've seen. All in all it's a great movie where the survivalists leave with a better image of life.
User ReviewOffical PI liked this movie. I gave it a 4 star because the acting was ok and the special effects werent the best for 2015 but I did like the different ways the alien picked off the survivors.
User ReviewLåëílã BAn amazingly great bad horror movie with terrible vfx, boobs, stupid side plots and over the top acting. Not much to say here apart from the fact that it is laugh out loud funny and immensely enjoyable. Recommended for bad movie fans
User ReviewJason VDumb, of course, but kinda watchable in how dumb it is.
User ReviewSean CReminded me of Blood Beach from the 80's
User ReviewElpida KI'm giving three stars, because I find the idea quite interesting and original actually. I had fun watching it. But don't expect a great movie. Just entertaining, smart and original, I would say. The special effects though... TOTAL disaster!
User ReviewFrances HIf this would have used practical fx, this easily could have been so much better. I want to love it, because it's bad and fun and has a great creature but my god those fx with all its other issues (the "humor"), really PULLED IT INTO THE SAND AMIRITE
User Reviewbarbara mIt's about flesh eating sand; sand that kills people. Like, literally. The Sand (aka Killer Beach) starts off as a so-bad-it's-good kind of movie, providing plenty of laughs about these idiot's predicament, being surrounded by killer sand (it's funnier each time you say it). And the sand alien was pretty good at first, as the little worm like strands that instantaneously attack human flesh. But the idea grew tiresome and the graphics absurd towards the end when the tiny strands become enormous, monstrous tentacles of sorts. Worth a good laugh, just goes out poorly.
