rec.arts.movies.reviewsMark R. LeeperThis is not a great film, but it is certainly a fun film. Great for a Friday night watch after a hard week.
Los Angeles TimesKevin ThomasFor all its pretensions, "The Runestone" is just another routine horror picture featuring a big hairy monster on the loose.
User ReviewLaura PI love this movie. It plays on Norse legend and surrounds my favorite Norse god, Tyr (the Clockmaker).
User ReviewMichael JDespite the ugly creature-design, this monster-flick is actually pretty entertaining. Not much here in the gore-department but the action is frequent, performances acceptable and the production-value is better than in most low-budget monster-flicks. Alltogether it's a perfect movie for a friday night and you could certainly watch much worse monster-movies than The Runestone.
User ReviewBen RWhat a boring drawn out piss poor excuse for a early 90s creature movie. This just kinda farted along at a snails pace and the actual creature isn't anything impressive. The gore they do show is very unsatisfying for any horror fan and the main actress is eye candy only, needless to say her acting sucks. The main character guy who gets turned into the creature by the Runestone... annoyed the shit outta me. Peter Riegert,Lawernce Tierney and the great William Hickey did pump some life into this limp cock of a horror film but failed to get enough screen time to make a real difference. Watch only if you're a fan of crappy early 90s creature movies.
