User ReviewKeldon MWhat's the controversy, the film was very sympathetic to the Reagans, I loved it?
User ReviewJake Spretty great movie if your a reagan fan it doesnt just concentrate on the good but also the bad.. i was surprised it was this good since i never heard of it and because its under the radar im sure to do with politics but all in all its a pretty moving film
User ReviewJohn WWonderfully cast and v. entertaining. James Brolin's look and mannerisms are spot on and Judy Davis capably captures Nancy's cool aloofness without lapsing into her award-winning Judy Garland schtick. John Stamos makes a lacklustre appearance as a weasly campaign manager who disappears from the plot almost as quickly as he entered it. In company with Brolin and Davis was Zoie Palmer in her portrayal of rebellious Patti Reagan, who struggles to make her mark in a family to which she felt she never belonged. Thoroughly enjoyable. Borrow it from the Halifax Library! :)
User ReviewFred JAn interesting behind-the-scenes look into the relationship between Nancy and Ronald Reagan. I was never a huge fan of "Nancy Pants," but my attitude toward her has softened somewhat after watching the movie -- assuming the events in the film bear some resemblance to reality, of course. And I couldn't help but marvel at the physical resemblance of James Brolin to Ronald Reagan. Will be interesting to see if Brolin the Younger (Josh) fares as well in his upcoming portrayal of George W. Bush.
User ReviewJames HMUCH TO MY SURPRISE THIS IS ACTUALLY NOT TOO BAD. I FELT IT WAS PROBABLY A VERY ACCURATE PORTRAYAL OF THE FORMER PRESIDENT AND FIRST LADY. JUDY DAVIS IS SO SO AS NACY, BUT JAMES BROLIN IS QUITE REMARKABLE AS RONALD REAGAN. OF COURSE NANCY IS A SHALLOW BITCH, BUT THAT ISN'T NEWS TO ANYONE, BUT THE FILM SHOWED THE PRESIDENT AS A SURPRISINGLY SYMPATHETIC MAN
User ReviewEric JWhat's disappointing is that the Reagan presidency could make a potentially great film or miniseries(You've got crazy Nancy, corruption, folksy anti-intellectualism), but this one is awful. It basically just the whole history on fast-forward and I can't tell what the makers are trying to say about Reagan or his presidency.
