In 1986, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera arrived on the West End stage at Her Majesty's Theatre. Fast forward 25 years and Phantom has achieved global success, millions of viewers, a film adaptation in 2004 and a musical sequel. Now viewers have the chance to experience this phenomenal show right from their own screens. Filmed at the Royal Albert Hall, this stunning performance brings the show to a bigger stage and celebrates its role as one of the biggest shows in theatre history, with speeches, performances and appearances by the original cast and some of the show's most notable Phantoms, including John Owen-Jones and Colm Wilkinson. Starring Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess, Phantom tells the story of a deformed musical genius who lives in the catacombs of the Paris Opera House. Shunned by society, the Phantom seeks revenge in cruel and often violent acts. The Phantom is in love with chorus girl Christine Daaé and has been secretly training her to replace La Carlotta as the opera's reigning diva. However, when Christine is thrust into the spotlight, she is also reunited with childhood friend Raoul. Passion, obsession and chaos ensue as Christine finds herself torn between her love for Raoul and her strange pull towards the mysterious and dangerous Phantom.

Mark Leeper's ReviewsMark R. Leeperpresumably the tightness of the Royal Albert Hall stage and the inability of the producers to modify the theater created technical problems that may have been imperfectly overcome.
User ReviewTracey cAbsolutely FANTASTIC! Would definately attend an encore performance but scheduling conflicts.
User ReviewKatie HA particularly well-acted production. Stand out performer was Wendy Ferguson as Carlotta. She puts a lot of humanity into the role and is not the annoying stereotypical "diva". I think Firmin and Andre miss comedic timing often, unfortunately.
User ReviewDanielle Bamazing...... just amazing everything about was just......god i wish i was there seeing it live but this is the next best thing. congratulations phantom of the opera for 25 amazing years of an amazing story and music
User ReviewAmanda HI had never had the privilege of seeing this show on stage, so I was very excited when I heard this DVD was being released. Now that I've watched it, I can understand why it's been so well-loved for so long. The production is beautiful, the casting is perfect, the theater is gorgeous, and despite the long running time, I was sad to see it end. This only further convinces me that I need to see the show in person.
User ReviewTami BFabulous production- far outweighs the movie version! You get the sense and feel of live threatre- which is what it is- a video of a live production. The special features post curtain call are also entertaining and rewarding to view.
User ReviewCynthia SFabulous! The woman that plays the part of Christine (Sierra Boggess) sings like an angel. The music from this is some of the most memorable of all musicals out there, in my opinion. Beautiful production. There is a 25th Anniversary performance afterwards that actually involves Andrew Lloyd Webber himself. Very cool!
User ReviewDavid LThis is probably the most beautiful and fantastic performance ever given by man. I'm serious. The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary is Brilliantly acted, sung beautifully, filled with fantastic spectacle and excitement! Rating: 100%/ Overall: Masterpiece
User ReviewChantal SWhy couldn't they have done the movie like this? This takes me back to how I saw it performed! Awesome!
User ReviewBrad SAbsolutely awesome! Captivating performances. The only negative is that I was not in Royal Albert Hall to see this momentous performance in person!
