United States air force Major Frank Cross is in trouble with the "brass" again. This time he's made an unauthorized humanitarian relief flight ... dropping sacks of rice to starving Kurds. To the press, he's a hero. The Pentagon would like to court martial him, but can't because the President wants the highly photogenic media hero by his side--at least until after the next election. So Cross has a new assignment. He's to carry the "black bag"-- the President's high-tech briefcase containing the "go codes" and communications computer for launching America's nuclear ICBM arsenal in case of national emergency. It should be a piece of cake, but... On his first day on the job, a team of mercenaries steal the briefcase and drop Cross off a tenth floor balcony. Miraculously, he not only survives, but pursues the terrorists in a hijacked taxi. The ensuing car chase careens through the alleyways and streets of Chicago, up the ramps of a parking garage and then, unexpectedly, continues over the rooftops of the adjacent buildings! When the taxi takes a fiery plunge off one of the buildings, the mercenaries think they've seen the last of him ... but Cross has bailed out and manages to stowaway on the helicopter that plucks them, and the black bag, from the rooftops, into the night sky and onwards to their final target... United States Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Facility K-7. Disguised as one of the terrorists, Cross slips into the missile silo as the crack team murders the silo personnel and takes over launch control using the secret codes contained in the black bag. Led by ex-Marine Colonel Douglas Murphy, who went "missing in action" during an undercover operation in Iraq, they launch a terrifying warning shot: a Peacekeeper nuclear missile that destroys Mount Rushmore! Only then does Murphy call the President and make his chilling demand. The President is to kill himself in front of a live television audience, or the two remaining nuclear missiles will be targeted on Washington D.C. Only Frank Cross, Joined by the surviving commander of the Missile Facility, Lieutenant Colonel Bernard Northrop, can stop the madness that threatens the President and millions of civilians. The odds are overwhelming. The countdown has started. The PEACEKEEPER is ready to blast off!

User Review - 6/10 by Darren DPeacekeeper (1997) is a B grade action movie set in a nuclear missile silo starring Dolph Lundgren and has the following tagline: "Mass destruction just met its match." Dolph Lundgren is also one of my favourite action movie stars because he is an actor you can laugh at. That is not meant to be a personal dig; I admire the man tremendously for his academic achievements in chemical engineering and ability to speak several languages and direct his own movies. He also has personal military experience, a martial arts talent in karate and has had active involvement in Olympic sport. Dolph is one the great muscle men of the 1980s who epitomized the mood of the decade in films like Rocky IV or He-Man. But unlike van Damme, Dolph seems (particularly here) a bit too tall and cumbersome to move around with any athletic grace but rather he runs like the robot Kryten from Red Dwarf. He is pretty good however just playing a muscle man firing a machinegun from the hip and speaking robotic one-liners like, "I must break you." Dolph's characters are typically indestructible: in Peacekeeper he can sustain pistol shots to the chest and fall six floors from a hotel balcony into some garbage cans in the street below without causing any serious injury at all. Plot? When a terrorist group steals the US President's personal communications computer for launching the US arsenal in case of war, only heroic Major Frank Cross has any chance of averting a nuclear holocaust. Sound familiar? Many readers on IMDB described this movie as a "Die Hard Clone". I saw more resemblance to The Rock (1996). The plot is typical and the dialogue OK especially when the James-Bond-type-villain (who cannot bleed somehow) invites the President (Roy Scheider no less) to truly "serve his country" by blowing his brains out and saving millions of American lives from nuclear destruction. The action is bog standard for the most part but the roof-hopping car chase sequence is pure B-movie brilliance. Once locked inside the silo with the terrorists Dolph must shut down the missiles and has the help of an surviving member of the staff who just so happened to have designed this whole missile complex by himself and has an intimate knowledge of tunnels and air vents that he can guide Dolph around over a walkie-talkie. A must watch for Dolph fans and general B-Movie lovers.

User Review - 6/10 by John CThis one is surprisingly involving and fun. If you're "b" action fan you'll like it. If you're also a Dolphie fan you'll love it.
