Movie Reviews

The Hollywood Reporter - 7/10 by Frank ScheckUltimately, of course, Wakefield himself is beside the point. The controversy over vaccinations will rage on and this cinematic portrait will merely be a footnote. But it proves a compelling one, however you may feel about the burning issue.
FF2 Media - 7/10 by Amelie LaskerBailey is telling an important story in showing the ways in which these types of personalities exert their influence. More generally, the film shows the ways in which false claims catch on and get perpetuated.
Los Angeles Times - 5/10 by Robert AbeleFor a movie about so rabble-rousing a figure, it’s an unusually quiet portrait.
User Review - 10/10 by josephine mA great film, and a very scary look at the corruption that reigns in the world today...A must watch.
User Review - 10/10 by Bob RExcellent film, tells the truth about Andrew Wakefield's fight against the vaccine industry. Well worth a look ??
User Review - 10/10 by Rimmy KI saw this in Chicago last week. And I really enjoyed it. It's hard to tell who the opening Mark Twain quote is directed at and that sort of sets the tone for the entire film. I have a particular stance on the debate (which I won't get into here) but I honestly felt very torn on what to believe as I watched it. On the drive home my husband and I agreed that it definitely was lacking a bit more counter-perspective from the other side. Would have loved to have seen Brian Deer give his take (and not just watch old news clips of him). I really want there to be a live debate between Wakefield and deer or Wakefield and Paul Offit. Perhaps that can be part of the sequel. I was also curious what happened with the legal proceedings of that Texas autism center that Andy can't talk about. I wonder if any drama there could give a richer perspective to the story. Too bad legal clauses ruin so much of the juicy parts of a good story. But all in all, I think this is a film both sides of the debate should see. It will really get you to step back and think a little. And maybe just maybe, both sides are a little right and a little wrong.
User Review - 10/10 by Christina%20 MA well made and compelling character study. I was immediately pulled into this film! What we have been told about this man through mainstream media is not the whole truth!
User Review - 10/10 by Richard LA fascinating character study of an incredibly charismatic, brilliant and complicated man, regardless of where you stand on the vaccination debate. Beautifully crafted, surprisingly intimate and compelling, it doesn't shy away from the hard questions or the deeply emotional responses that make this documentary a very human and very moving story.
User Review - 10/10 by Kara CFrom all I have heard of Andrew Wakefield, anti-vaxxers, and the controversy of vaccines and autism, seeing the man behind all the drama was incredibly eye-opening, adding what has been most missing from the discussion: human vulnerability and ego.
User Review - 10/10 by Elizabeth WPathological Optimist is a fascinating portrayal of a controversial man. As any good documentary does, it gives you the facts without opinion allowing the viewer to make up his or her opinion. I recommend this film.
