Full Plot Details

The Otherworld is an original story and mystical tale inspired by Celtic mythology and Irish legends. One of the most fascinating characters in Celtic mythology, the Warrior Lugh, crosses Woodland heading to Tara to join the court of King Nuada and the Tuatha De Danann. Nuada and his kingdom are at this time oppressed by the Fomorian tribe, and trying to retaliate for their land and freedom. During Lugh's travel, he is bewitched by a faerie (Immrama) to a Beltane celebration, when the line between the human and fairy world are vulnerable and Lugh crosses unaware to The Otherworld - the fairy realm. Lugh and Immrama fall in love. However, they live in different times and worlds...

User Review - 10/10 by Christian Joy SA unique movie based on Irish legends. This movie is full of special effects and travelling through time and worlds. The chemistry between Immrama and Lugh was truly special and would definitely make you fall in love! I am glad I found this movie, a gem!
User Review - 10/10 by Victoria RIn a day and age where so many movies are starting to look, feel and sound the same - "The Otherworld" is a refreshing and welcome change! This movie is truly enchanting from beginning to end, and I love how the movie moves from romance, to whimsical and to adventure. (Speaking of adventure, there is a really good fight scene toward the end of the movie that I was totally NOT expecting out of a Celtic Fairy Tale! Truly entertaining!) The storyline is unlike anything else that's out there right now, lots of great characters and depth, and the scenery and special effects were an added bonus. This movie has also introduced me to Gisela Pereira, who not only stars in The Otherworld, but she also directed it (she heads Gisela Productions). I'm surprised I haven't heard of her until now. She is no doubt a rising star to look out for! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more from Gisela, and from her company - please let there be a sequel!

I was first attracted by the 'cover', as it had a very mystical feel to it, and I knew then that it would be the type of film that I like to watch.'The Otherworld' has a retro feel to it, but it was well-suited to the subject matter. The filmography is very atmospheric, and the scenery beautiful. I loved the haunting soundtrack too. There are some great characters in it - most notably the wizard Gwydion, who looked like he'd escaped from Terry Pratchett's Discworld! Drawing on material from Irish and Welsh legends, this will have great appeal to those who have a pagan leaning or love fairies (or unicorns!).

Gisela Pereira's charming film is about love, war and self-sacrifice with a pinch of Celtic magic. If you like fairies, unicorns and druids, then you cannot go wrong with this life-like fantasy, where actors/actresses are flesh and blood and not artificial puppets. The wonderful Celtic music and the costumes make the experience even more enchanting!

It's a rich tapestry of old school Celtic storytelling with some fantastic CGI and solid acting. Gisela Pereira's production is seamless, giving the actors plenty of room for manoeuvre in this hidden Celtic gem.
User Review - 10/10 by Matthew PI stumbled across this movie and was very surprised with how much I enjoyed it, there's very few pagan movies out there. Being Irish I was excited to see a movie about the mythology surrounding my heritage, the film blends Celtic and pagan folk tales and myths into it's on unique story. It's not something I know much about and despite being a romantic action movie (and a good one at that) it also educated me haha. Not something you expect normally. I particularly enjoyed the Druid, the character design stood out and the way he seemed to be behind the destiny of the story, weaving the story to push the characters to their end goal of happiness was inspiring. Lugh's battle leading the painted Irish against the supernatural demons was reminiscent of the film Braveheart, if you had replaced the British with something much scarier. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in Celtic or Pagan stories.

Featuring fairies, magic, may pole dancing, unicorns, different realms along with lots of other fantasy elements, it's a really charming movie with a retro vibe that you can't help but love. The lead actress is engaging and the folk soundtrack fits the mood perfectly!??Gisela Pereira went with soft cinematography mixed with psychedelic cgi visuals when shooting this production which turns out to be a great choice! The visuals really add to this dream like fairy tale world. To summarise, the Otherworld is a B-movie through and through but it's hard not to recommend to anyone that enjoys Irish and Celtic mythology or even families that are looking for a traditional Celtic fantasy/fairy tale to enjoy!
User Review - 10/10 by kendra pThis film is magical from the first moment! The dreamy, imaginative and beautiful scenes draw you into their fairy world instantly. I love a love story and this is one that spans the dimensions of time. The costumes are stunning complete with delicate wings. The location is a plush forest (such a delight for a city girl like me). The shades of green are breathtaking. I loved the Celtic music throughout the film. It set the tone so well. And, it was played beautifully. The little sparkles added to magical moments were lovely and made me smile. Such nice details throughout hat make this film stand out.

Captivating from the start, the multidimensionality of this movie is bar none. Ranging from comedy, to romance, adventure, and everything else in between, this movie does a wondrous job of providing cinematic elements that all movie watchers can enjoy. The characters have so much depth and the impeccable imagery of the landscape and costumes portray an honest representation of Celtic culture. Kudos to Gisela Pereira for crafting such a wonderfully made and enjoyable movie. I will be definitely looking out for future works of hers. Having been to many countries across the globe. If this movie has taught me anything it's that I think Ireland is going to have to be my next stop!

The characters are enchanting and costumes are beautifully whimsical. Background music was also beautiful and helped to enhance the story line. I was drawn in from start to finish. This is a wonderful watch for families!
