| User ReviewTim SWhile it's true that Mystery of the 13th Guest is a bit middle of the road, I found myself sort of enjoying the movie. It's meant to be a mix of comedy and horror, but I think the slapstick and silliness between characters pushes it a bit over the edge and it just comes off as silly most of the time. The characters aren't terribly interesting, but the story has some interesting things about it. The movie is a remake of The 13th Guest and is based upon the novel by Armitage Trail, who was the author of Scarface. A movie like this, as apposed to some of the other much broader movies of its type (I'm thinking in the vein of some Three Stooges shorts), is at least fun to watch. It's never boring and never really insulting. So it's pretty much middle of the road, but I kind of enjoyed watching it. I just wish that it was less silly. I don't mind the comedy, but it just went a bit too far for my taste. |
