Full Plot Details

Holly, blessed with an amazing singing voice, is all set to audition for the newly vacated spot in a legendary local Christmas group which was founded by her late mother years ago. Shocked and upset when the slot goes to the barely talented best friend of the group's leader, Marci, Holly sets out to create her own musical group, The Mistle-Tones. After challenging their rivals to a sing-off on Christmas Eve, Holly finds herself on a journey to the real meaning of Christmas with some new friends and a new love thrown in for good measure.

A fun light-hearted musical that takes Christmas Carols to an entire other level, keeping intact the joy and innocence of the season. An incredible addition to family Christmas movies.

User Review - 8/10 by Heather PThe movie is realistic in that the homes seem to match the characters' incomes, there is a lot of racial diversity (and one of the main characters is Jewish), the love interests are co-workers, the kids are loud and chaotic (not quiet and well-behaved), the hair/makeup and clothes are what people typically wear in real life, and the musical numbers come at natural moments (open mic at a bar, mumbling a holiday song at the water cooler, karaoke at the office holiday party, etc.). The characters don't have crazy holiday outfits just sitting in their closets; Holly has to design them and make them by hand. Well, Marci always dresses like Cruella de Vil, but it suits her. You gain a bit of empathy for Holly because she wants to win the talent show in honor of her deceased mother, and fortunately it's only addressed long enough to be endearing instead of melodramatically dragging it out for the sake of drama. Also, the soundtrack is stellar (it's on iTunes).

User Review - 4/10 by Cade HYou can't expect too much from an ABC Family Christmas movie and this one had its highs but was filled with mainly lows. The best part of the film was the fun and well performed Christmas songs. They did a modern, upbeat twist on classic songs and they were all great. The rest of the film was super cheesy and predictable and Tori Spelling was just horrendous with her character. If you like good music you might want to check this out but there are plenty of other, better Christmas movies out there.
