Full Plot Details

Scrumpy old dad wants his sweet little daughter to marry a rotund old bachelor just because said "bach" will deliver some coin to dad for the favor. The young miss is telling her sweetheart all about the wish of her miserly father, and Romeo is raising an awful row about it, when dad and he beats an ignominious retreat, while the daughter goes into the house. Pretty soon she has the pleasure (!) of meeting the old skate her father wants her to marry, and doesn't she just jolly the life out of him! And the antique fool thinks he's getting a lovely reception, too. But the girl decides that she might just as well have some fun out of it, and she fastens onto him the unlovely domestic, who pesters him with her attentions until he is frantic. This keeps up for a while, but papa needs the money and wants the marriage of his daughter to come off soon. So the daughter decides to get off a prize stunt. She fixes it up that her sweetheart should masquerade as a clergyman. And officiate at her wedding! Bless you, no! That's all arranged. She tells the old gent that she's going to get dressed for the wedding, and soon he walks out smiling, a veiled lady on his arm. Straight toward the city they go, but, strange to say, they meet a minister as they are crossing a meadow. Sure he marries them right away; just when he places the ring on the bride's finger dad appears and receives his bundle of boodle, as per agreement. Then our newly married friend, in order to kiss the bride, lifts her veil, and to his consternation the ugly servant girl, dressed in her mistress' suit, is beaming coquettishly at him. He immediately realizes that he is tricked, and attempts a getaway. But the homely damsel considers her luck too good to lose, and with arms like flails she seals his fate for him in no uncertain way.
