Spirituality and Practice - 6/10 by Frederic and Mary Ann BrussatOffers a hard look at the military mystique of honor, loyalty and discipline.
Q Network Film Desk - 6/10 by James Kendricka fairly effective thriller, although it sometimes feels a bit mean-spirited and sadistic
DVDTalk.com - 5/10 by David CorneliusTo get to the fine moments, we must wade through some sloppy melodrama, clunky characterizations, and a hackneyed, clumsy final act.
User Review - 10/10 by Alex RThis is a great movie with a very good plot. It doesn't compare to the book. It does acurately represent the military college of South Carolina, take it from me, I'm a cadet there.
User Review - 10/10 by Curtis RPat Conroy's masterpiece about racism & class elitism at a Southern military academy set during the 1960's. I watched the crap out of this film on HBO back in the early to mid 80's. David Keith deserved the Oscar for his brilliant portrayal of Will McClean but I believe that Robert Duvall sewed it up that year for Tender Mercies. The perfect companion film to Conroy's The Great Santini.
User Review - 10/10 by Nellie K. AOne of the first movies to take on the issue of racism. It was agreat drama and I will always enjoy this movie because it was one of the last movies I went to see with my mom. Anyway, this is a geat drama that you should have in your DVD collection. Enjoy and tell me what you think! Be good, J.
User Review - 8/10 by bill sForgotten very well done thriller about honor and friendship....Breland was a better actor than boxer as it turned out.
User Review - 8/10 by Anthony PIt gets good in the middle. Pretty slow at the beginning
User Review - 8/10 by Dave Bone of my favorite authors ever; who does great justice to the south and our battle in overcoming racism and prejudice...
User Review - 6/10 by Kevin M. WSet in the early 60's, four white kids stand up against racism at a southern military academy once the first black is admitted. Not bad.
