Leave your thoughts about The Locksmith.
Los Angeles TimesNoel MurrayThe Locksmith screenplay (credited to five people, none of whom are Harvard) doesn’t have the snappy dialogue of the best noirs; but its storytelling is efficient, with enough characters to make its world feel well-populated but not overstuffed.
Movie NationRoger MooreNordling makes a terrific heavy, Rhames oozes credibility as the wizened small-time crook turned small business owner, Bosworth holds her own and Phillippe hits just the right notes — crooked to the core, wary of everybody except for “family,” naive enough to think his instincts are enough.
RogerEbert.comGlenn KennyIf The Locksmith offers anything new, it’s in neutering the genre.
The New York TimesBrandon YuMost of the movie is told with big, rudimentary handwriting and slathered in clichés.
VarietyMurtada ElfadlThe plot is so straightforward and reminiscent of a thousand other crime movies that nothing will be missed. Alas, nothing is gained either, and the entertainment value is subpar at best.
User ReviewLuke08Despite a another solid performance by Kate Bosworth and Ryan Philippe, the plot is full of holes, sometimes bordering the ridicule, and the low budget movie is hardly watchable. Add in some of the mandatory woke - all the supporting, bad characters are white and the good ones are black, somehow (yes, everything is possible but is that the point?) - and you might want to save your money.
