Filled with passion, blood and tragedy, this movie is the tumultuous true story of a man divided by love for country and for Eveline McCord, his beloved girl from the north. Produced and written by the descendents of Robert and Eveline, this is an explosive, richly detailed saga of fierce combat, honor, and the will to risk all that's precious for love or country.

Los Angeles TimesMichael OrdoñaThe film's long suit is the chemistry between the leads: Julian Adams, if occasionally stiff, has a strong, sometimes Matthew McConaughey-like presence; newcomer Gwendolyn Edwards shows spark as the beautiful Eveline.
User ReviewAlex Mone of the better civil war movies ive seen and since im a union reenactor it even adds more 2 it
User ReviewCarlito Gthis was a good movie in my point of view because it showed that the south was not fighting for slavery they were fighting to protect their way of life
User ReviewSean AWonderful story, but execution of it was a little disappointing. I would have liked to see more in the prison and more of the fighting instead of fight cut fight cut prison. but the small battles were a way for the movie to be made cheaply. What an honor it must have been to be a direct descendant of Robert Adams and his wife. Acting was decent as well, even for the lead actor who is an Adams. I like it a lot. Cinematography was bland, but I got over it. The dialogue was rich in aesthetics, partly because the two main characters are teachers, and the language of the mid0-1800's was completely different from ours now.
User ReviewPamela HThis was a beautifully filmed movie. The director was able to set the mood using light, colour and scenery. The acting was ok, but it is when you realize that it is Robert Adams, great, great...grandson who is the lead actor that it really takes on meaning. We all shoild be so lucky to be able to put a part of our family history on film
User ReviewShawn EI'm always happy to see a story set during The Civil War, especially if it's told from the Southern perspective. I saw the trailer and thought it must have been shot very cheap but decided to watch it anyway given my interest in war films. Well, it was shot very cheap. But this film should be a model for films shot with a low budget. The story was very interesting. And it's based on actual events which makes it even more so. The sets were very impressive. I thought the battle sequences could have been coordinated better, but then again, it was very low-budget. I still didn't understand the background of this production til I was viewing the credits...Robert Adams was played by Julian Adams. Hmmm. Not only was Julian Adams playing his Great Great Grandfather, but he also produced the movie and wrote the screenplay. Has anything like this ever been done? Very fascinating stuff. I also thought Gwendolyn Edwards was perfect for this movie. I'd be anxious to hear other people's thoughts on The Last Confederate. I for one liked it very much. I only wish more money could have been spent on the production.
User ReviewPrivate UThe best independant low budget movie ever. No politics. Just a guy defending his land and family and a love story. True Story.
User ReviewChristopher SInteresting as it is based on a true story, but rather slow moving.
User ReviewAnne EIts no Gone with the Wind but okay period piece.
User ReviewSTCENTERPRISE .Decent! Good, solid, certainly a bit Hallmark-y, but ultimately satisfying. The ending in particular was quite well done. And really, when's the last time you saw a Civil War film that actually portrayed Southerners as something other than brutish troglodytes, and Northerners with complex loyalties?
