Robert Barker, the newly arrived missionary, bears gifts to King Lomba of the Bartosi tribe. However, the wild animals do not harm him, and the king, after a sleepless night, liberates his brother. He finds the white man's Bible, which Kahma reads during the terrible night, and asks that his brother's friends be his friends.
