Young marrieds Lori and Tom relocate from Chicago to the country where they end up living next to Carl, a right-wing radical who beats his wife, Helen. When Tom goes away for a few days, Lori, with the help of best friend, Monica, investigates the disappearance of Helen. | User ReviewAmanda HI liked the storyline here, but the bad acting, obviously tiny budget and cheesy canned music all detracted from the good points. This isn't something I'd be likely to want to watch again. |
| User ReviewNicki MNot quite as horrible as the rating would have you believe, but it's certainly nothing amazing. Seems to me like a typical made for tv thriller. (I have no idea if it was made for tv, but it sure seems that way). Most of the acting is pretty standard, maybe even a little below standard in the opening scenes, but it does pick up a bit and I was impressed with A J Cook, who always seems to take on really crap movies, with the exception of The Virgin Suicides. A shame as she is quite a likeable actress who I'm sure could do better. Theresa Russell is also not too painful as the downtrodden neighbour. I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to seek this out, but if there was nothing else on tv, you could do worse. |
| User ReviewAnana HWhile very predictable, it held my interest. The ending leaves me yearning for closure, but I enjoy a good thriller nonetheless. The House Next Door is not so bad that you wish for 1 1/2 hours of your life back! Frederic Forrest was a pleasant surprise; he still gives me the heebie-jeebies from Falling Down. It's alright for background during a quiet night at home I guess. |
