Leave your thoughts about The Green Slime.
Combustible CelluloidJeffrey M. AndersonThe Green Slime is a complete dud, though it's so cheesy that it probably has -- and deserves -- a cult following.
Sci-Fi Movie PageJames O'EhleyA sense of humor is required to appreciate this slice of goofy, cheesy late 'Sixties sci-fi!
User ReviewDirck dWhy five stars? Just watch the trailer on YouTube and tell me you don't want to succumb to the Slime! This is gagging to be remade and one day I might get around to doing it. Either this or Moon Zero Two.
User ReviewPatrick%20 CRidiculous, yet brilliant... Plus, one of the best high-camp theme songs from the late 1960's...
User ReviewIsaac TOkay, I've got one up on everyone here since I actually saw this flick in the theaters when I was 7 years old. In my book ( and in that of the great Roger Ebert ), this film gets 5 stars because it perfectly delivers what it's audience wanted: a fun, colorful, made for children Saturday matinee sci-fi flick with lots of rocket ships, rubber-suited monsters and beautiful women for all of us uncomplicated grade school boys with no video games or therapists to waste time on. I just bought the new remastered DVD and it looks great - but still not as good as it looked on the big screen. I still enjoy watching this film - especially on my new 50"plasma - and still rate it 5 stars. This film has stayed with me all these years as one of the best movies I saw as a child in the theater ( "Beach Blanket Bingo", "Goldfinger", and "Fantastic Voyage" are others. Say, didn't they all feature silicone-free beautifully buxom women? But I digress... ). Watching "Slime" now after all those years, it's obvious how similar the story is to "Alien", but what no one else has mentioned is that the entire asteroid drilling sequence was taken and expanded to make the movie "Armageddon" !! Almost all the details are the same, minus the slime and the ending. Check it out. So, this little film has influenced some big name movies. It even makes me think of "The Andromeda Strain" in some ways. Not saying there's a direct thing ovah dere, but who knows??? And yes, I saw that too in it's first run in '71. What can I say, it was great being a 60's kid ! ;) Cheers, all, and happy film-going!
User ReviewPeter WI don't care what anyone thinks this film is awesome a classic.
User ReviewRobert Ethe greatest movie of all time. greatest soundtrack too.
User ReviewChristopher CWho'd have thought the director of this crazy 60's b-movie would go on to be one of the most renowned Japanese directors of all time. This is a great b-movie if that's all you take it for, the monsters are great!
User ReviewPrivate UI can't stress to you enough just how entertaining this movie is. Commander Jack Rankin is my idol.
User ReviewJay PSaw this movie when I was 8, it scared the crap out of me... back in those days you could go to the Rialto in Ottawa and see 3 movies for a quarter... I rate it 5 because to date nothing has ever scared me like that movie... You can't kill them... if you shoot them, there blood turns into more aliens... by today's standards it amounts to being a cheezy B movie... but back then... Wow!
