Jake has never met his father, but holds him responsible for all of life's troubles- failure, jail, the death of his mother. Jake travels to the south with the intention of revenge. However, once he gets to this small town big things start to happen. It's here with nothing that he finds everything - life, love and a gospel record contract. And Jake learns that his momma may not have been quite so innocent through it all. Jake soon becomes part of a colorful ensemble cast that is as authentic and soulful as it gets. This is a movie about people, the characters just as important as the location. This musical movie has the heart and feel of a foreign film, but its country of origin just happens to be the Arkansas delta.

PopMattersMike WardA sincere picture, with a lot of interesting, ambitious writing that these blips mostly punctuate.
VarietyJoe LeydonHicky presents welcome surprises throughout The Grace of Jake, often introducing plot developments that would lead to melodramatic outcomes in more conventional films.
The Hollywood ReporterJohn DeForeThings get a bit busier than this modest film requires, but rural languor prevails in the end — if not with the "grace" of the title, at least with forgiveness.
Los Angeles TimesKimber MyersIt earns points for not being overly pious, but there’s little depth in its exploration of one man’s spiritual evolution.
User ReviewC BGorgeous movie, a true celebration of what it means to love and accept all regardless of color, creed, religion, or sexual persuasion. An uplifting movie about a part of our country that is often mired in non-progressive bias and hatred. An imperfect film, but what movie is perfect!
User ReviewRick BRedemptive story that's somewhat wishfully overdone given reality in rural USA. A little unsure and choppy in the beginning. Cinematography impressive - sound, not so much. Particularly good individual performances throughout, especially Michael Beck, Chad Morgan, and Dorien Wilson. Hour and a half well spent.
User ReviewKevin BI approached this movie thinking it was a faith-based flick. Instead I found all the PC components of Hollywood add a dash of the Gospel. Not the same. Middle America should skip it.
