The Economist reporter Jack Elgin, a workaholic, takes his family on a working trip to India, where he is to interview the PM. But their US airplane is hijacked in Limassol (Cyprus) by the unknown August 15 terrorist movement, which ends up in a bloodbath. Jack can save his pre-teen son Andrew, literally in his arms, but his wife and two daughters are among the slaughter victims. Western governments seem unwilling to go after the fiends, even hiding the identity of a high-profile victim. Although now a single father, Jack uses all his contacts and snooping skill to seek the truth himself. A London-based Serbian free newspaper editor sets him on the trail of four Balkanic killers, but is murdered. Jack decides to exact revenge himself, tipped-off by Sûreté-contact Duguay. Meanwhile US embassy official Davidson and FBI Special Agent Jules Bernard play a key part in the official, MI5-lead investigation, which ends up crossing Jack's path.

User ReviewCorey nThis is a top notch revenge thriller. Jeremy Irons gives us a great performance as a grieving father and as a determine husband to get revenge and understand why his family was killed. The minor roles of Forest Whitaker and Jason Priestley are okay. I have never read the book this was based off but I would recommend this as a watch.
User Reviewfiona ma really good film...fast paced good story..would recomend
User ReviewMichelle .I love Jeremy Irons very much, that's why I had to watch The Fourth Angel also. It was actually quite touching in the beginning. I always expect tears at the end of movies, but mine almost ran in the beginning. After that an interesting thriller began. The twist at the end was rather interesting, even though I don't know how somebody who's been working as a journalist before can suddenly turn into an anti-terrorist agent that knows all about how to use weapons. But fine, good movie.
User ReviewJim MAverage revenge thriller wit above average performances from Jeremy Irons and Forest Whitaker, and a good supporting cast. Irons is a magazine editor who watches as his wife and daughters are gun downed by Serbian terrorists, when the killers get off scot free he takes matters into his own hands... nothing we haven't seen before, but still a good time killer, even if the title has nothing to do with the story.
User ReviewChosen 7Decent flick, could have been a lot better. Good performances by Whitaker and Irons.
User ReviewKaci MWasn't one of Whitaker's best performances, but it was decent.
User ReviewJocey DGood story. Traditional seek vengeance for killing of family story but more British style than American.
User ReviewHaydn WFlawed but enjoyable thriller, totally undeserving of its demise, due to 9/11.
User ReviewPat Mnot a classic, but not a snoozer either-easily watchable cause you truly care if those hi-jackers get theirs.seen lot worse.
User ReviewDavid SA low-budget thriller from John Irvin, a director known for rather mediocre handling of material. This film is no different, with Irvin providing workman-like direction to a rather conventional and uninspiring thriller formula. The film's run-of-the-mill demeanor is elevated somewhat by the performances of Jeremy Irons and Forest Whitaker, two academy-award winning actors who always good no matter how bad the material is that their working with... how on earth did Irvin get them to be in this movie?
