Examiner.comChris SawinThe Editor utilizes purposely horrendous acting, preposterously amusing gore, and downright absurd comedy and assembles every ridiculous fragment into this delightfully brilliant film that somehow works as both a tribute and an uproarious comedy.
The Film StageEthan VestbyIn turning to the giallo with their new film The Editor, an especially mean-spirited horror subgenre, the filmmakers leave an especially bad taste.
Electric SheepGreg KlymkiwThe Editor is probably the coolest film you'll see this year and one you'll want to partake of again and again and yet again.
NOW TorontoNorman WilnerThe Editor does its best to out-genre the genre, lovingly piling ridiculous complications and demented flashbacks on top of unconvincing dubbing, perfect genre references and plenty of nudity and gore.
NerdistScott WeinbergThe giallo satire we've all been waiting for. All 19 of us.
User ReviewPaul CI usually do not care for most films shot in an overly "retro" style. Often, they overplay their hand and seem to forced. 2015's "The Editor" is a parody of Italian giallo films from the 70's and 80's - but it is so spot on that it avoids most of the pitfalls of retro films and is quite enjoyable. The attention to detail is pretty amazing: the lighting, the acting, the music, the plot, and especially the audio quality (distinctive flat dubbing) all feel authentic while still managing to poke gently fun at the genre. Well worth a look, especially if you are fan of giallo.
User ReviewJoseph MThe Editor pays terrific homage to the Giallo genre, doubling down on inventive gore and offering some truly gruesome moments. The affair felt wholly original, and it's worth the few watches it takes to take it all in.
User ReviewRon T BGood stuff here. Nice homage piece to the 1970's exploitation films. Great use of practical makeup effects. A pretty cool and unique story. I highly recommend this one.
User ReviewJeff JExcellent and splendidly incoherent homage to the Italian giallo films of the '70s/80s. The "quality" of dialogue, acting and gore are all spot on. Great atmos' and visuals, top soundtrack too. (Cambridge B-movie Festival screening 22/08/15)
