IGN MoviesJosh LasserDirector Josh Bishop serves up a wonderful documentary about Stefan Pokorny, a Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Master who has built a business creating models for his hobby.
The PlaylistAlly JohnsonWhile the documentary The Dwarvenaut won’t break any new ground in terms of nonfiction narrative, it will ideally open up viewers eyes to the fact that art goes far beyond what’s painted or drawn and can be seen in the figurines of a live action role playing game.

Under the RadarJ.A. KordoshPokorny's heart is a good one and his devotion to Dungeons & Dragons as a powerful social experiment is admirable. It's a shame the social engagement barely reaches anyone else in Dwarvenaut.

User ReviewRobert ZI know nothing about Dungeons & Dragons, and I thought The Dwarvenaut was great! It's a charming film, full of belly laughs, about an artist (Stefan Pokorny) on a fascinating quest to bring people together through his enthusiasm for the game and his creation of model cities. You'll think he's bonkers until you see the methods behind the madness: how every moment from his adoption as a young boy to his nail-biting $2 million dollar Kickstarter campaign reveals a life of deep focus, and deeper joy. By the end, I was shouting "VALORIA!" -- the name of his ultimate mythical city -- along with the rest of the audience. Don't miss this film!

User ReviewPaul MStefan Pokorny is an artist, sculptor and Dungeons & Dragons fan who turned entrepreneur. The film delves into his life and influences as it follows the year long process to produce his greatest and most successful project yet, the Dwarven Forge City Builder. Which is the culmination of his passion for art and gaming.
User ReviewFabulous HNothing groundbreaking--and kind of a fluff piece--but an enjoyable watch nonetheless.
