Movie Reviews

Hollywood Reporter - 5/10 by Frank ScheckUnder the stilted direction of Alex Ranarivelo, it's all as clunkily melodramatic as it sounds, with the climactic trial sequences proving particularly slow going.
Variety - 5/10 by Owen GleibermanIt’s a prosaic piece of muckraking, shot in a functional flat visual style, but it grazes a nerve.
RogerEbert.com - 5/10 by Glenn KennyThe movie is shamelessly manipulative on several levels, and the cast members do their respective bits effectively.
Common Sense Media - 4/10 by Sandie Angulo ChenHeavy-handed drama is well-acted but manipulative.
Los Angeles Times - 2/10 by Michael RechtshaffenThe film’s prevailing theme may be that nothing is black and white, but the execution, with its strident lobbyists, salt-of-the-earth farmers and onscreen admonition to “investigate before you donate,” proves spottier than a kennel full of caged Dalmatians.
Punch Drunk Critics - 1/10 by Roxana HadadiThe Dog Lover may be "based on a true story," but everything about it feels so artificial and agenda-driven that it's impossible to enjoy unless you're already firmly on its side.
User Review - 10/10 by John SAwesome movie! Everyone should see this movie!
User Review - 10/10 by Garth AI didn't expect anything and was very pleasantly surprised. I suspect it got low reviews by the "experts" because it effectively shows the risk of bias in liberal causes which may actually mask a lack of objective reality. In this case, the animal rights activiist's agenda to shut down ANY dog breeders, even when moral and ethical, twists them to plot and attack good people. The role of government collusion with activists is also not hidden. But these things do happen. The exposing of a leftist agenda lurking to gain a political outcome is interwoven but clear. But more importantly is the exposure of blind idealism as the protaganist undercover "agent" comes to realize that it is her black and white ideology which is the pathology--not the family she is helping to ruin. A gem of a film. Well acted. No plot holes. If there is a fault it is that the romantic male lead is a dry sponge with no emotion. Their love chemistry does not work. But the other casting is top notch and effective. This film does not hit you over the head with a political club, but it effectively lets you realize that the common man often faces bureaucrats who inhabit the ideological fringe and will trample on your rights if you're not vigilant.
User Review - 10/10 by Cranthom RA courageous pushback on official abuse of power in animal protection prosecutions. The topic is very anti-SJW, and shows what happens when ideologically driven animal rights extremists install themselves into positions of police power, and officially attack normal people who take care of their animals responsibly. A great expose' that must have taken a lot of manuevering to get turned into a movie with some prominent actors who also risked the wrath of the uber politically correct.
User Review - 10/10 by Rudy DI like this movie; it shows that people these days are getting weirder, not-making-sense and got worse. I learn that we can't make "everything" perfect. Sometimes we needed to deal with it, embrace it and just be a rock in the river and let it slowly passed you. In my opinion, I believe this calls for a revolution.
