Journal and Courier (Lafayette, IN)Bob BloomA corny Monogram cheapie, allowing Lugosi to chew the scenery.
Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)John BeifussIn many of his movies, Bela Lugosi has bats in his belfry. But only in 'The Devil Bat' does he *really* have bats in his belfry, or at least in the secret chamber behind his hidden laboratory.
MoviejawnRosalie KicksWith the assistance of his trusty bats Beyyyla sets out to take revenge on his megalomaniac corporate employer. Need I say more?
Creative LoafingMatt BrunsonIf nothing else, the film does offer the enviable opportunity to hear Lugosi bellow to one of his inferiors, "Imbecile! Bombastic ignoramus!"
User ReviewAshley HThis is a good film. Good plot and well acted by entire cast. The Devil Bat is one of those films I've found myself watching. It's that good. Perhaps other viewers were expecting Gone With the Wind, which certainly is not. However, despite coming from of poverty row studios, this is a film is worth watching.
User ReviewHerr MBela Lugosi at his finest - and oh, those breath-taking special effects... I can't sleep at night thinking of the bats that may dive bomb me from the open sky at any moment...
User ReviewKelly TThis is a foreshadowing of his future work with Ed Wood. Bizarre storyline with unrealistic props gives this the Ed Wood feel. The acting isn't that bad actually-but the idea of trained killer bats makes this movie laughable. For the record, no bats were harmed in the making of this review
User Reviewlexie Hnot many people have seen this movie- its really good
User ReviewPrivate UI LOVE this movie. You get to love Lugosi's character so much that you don't want to see him get caught or foiled.
