The Kobayashi family finally get the chance to move out of their tiny, cramped Tokyo apartment in favour of the suburban house of their dreams. | User ReviewAlexander Rsuperb film, which seems to have been unjustly forgotten in the contemporary market for Japanese cinema (i.e it is neither so-called 'J Horror' nor a gratuitously eccentric teen flick). the family's descent into madness (from squeaky clean suburban normality) is paced brilliantly, and the lunacy - when it comes - is satisfactorily extreme and hilarious. one of the great Japanese comedies of recent decades |

| User ReviewDavid BA weird movie... Quite funny most of the time but soon you realize that this family has very special problems... The father is obsessed with white ants under the house, the daughter wants to become a singer or a wrestler whatever comes first, the son is getting crazy from studying and the grandpa falls back to be a soldier in ww2 again... and everyone thinks the others are crazy. Then comes the day when they start trying to kill each other to save them from their "sickness". This movie may be weird, but it is also very good. It will leave you thinking... |
